The Common Shelduck (Tadorna tadorna) is a striking waterfowl of coastal estuaries and inland lagoons. Males show a chestnut breast band and glossy head markings while females are paler and slightly smaller. They feed by dabbling and sifting for invertebrates in muddy shores and shallow waters.
